4. What happens if I should fail the part of the test in the parking lot?
The test is terminated and you will not be allowed to do the remainder of the test in traffic.

5. How tough is it to pass the test?
All examiners will tell you that the scoring of the test is very forgiving.  Those who do well are well prepared and are only a little nervous.  The best advice is to review the booklet Driving Skills Test Study Guide and actually practice the parking lot exercises.

There is no mention made in the guide that actually encourages you to practice.  However, in addition to practicing the three exercises in the parking lot, you should review The On-the-Road Test description in the booklet (p. 16).   As you do so, ask yourself if your current driving follows those guidelines.

6. Are you ready for the state required driving test?
The state required DRIVING SKILLS TEST must be passed before you are eligible to receive a Michigan driver's license.  To help you determine if you are ready for the test, you should review the booklet DRIVING SKILLS TEST STUDY GUIDE.  It's also here on this website.   This booklet describes exactly what to expect and how the test is scored.  This evaluation will include:
• Performing the 3 BASIC CONTROL SKILLS exercises, on the road driving evaluation, and tips on improving any weak areas.
Evaluation Fee: $75

7. What if I don't bring the required documents?
Failure to bring a required document will result in a $50 charge.  If you are under the age of 18, but did not bring a parent or legal guardian to the road test, you will be turned away and will be charged a $50 fee.

8. What if my vehicle does not pass the vehicle inspection?
You will not be allowed to test, and you will be charged $50.

9. What if I am running late for my road test appointment?
If you are 15 minutes or more late for your road test, you will not be tested, and you will be charged $50.

10. What if I need to cancel or reschedule my road test?
To cancel or reschedule a road test, you must contact our office at least 48 hours in advance.  If you call after hours, then you will need to leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, and brief reason for your call within the 48 hour grace period, as the voicemail will provide the date and time of your call.  If you do not show up for your road test, or do not contact our office 48 hours in advance, you will forfeit the fee for the road test, and have to pay again in full for another test.  You may also email us at least 48 hours in advance for cancellation, instead of voicemail.

11. Can I practice at the road test site?
No - legally, you cannot practice on the road test site.  The site is set up only during scheduled test times.

12. Can I use a backup camera during the road test?
